THE DEAD STAR ( Reaction Paper )

     The story entitled Dead Star revolves around the romantic relationships between the three characters named Alfredo, Esperanza and Julia. It is all about the man who fell out of love to his fiancee who is Esperanza because of Julia. But Alfredo has to make a choice between pursuing his romantic feelings for Julia or fulfilling his promise of matrimony to Esperanza. But then again, he chooses the latter, even though he still have the feelings for Julia. Then time comes, he has to accept that his feeling for Julia are gone and he is now contented with his life. And what he had felt for Julia was just like the "dead star" long extinguished yet seemingly still in their appointed places in heaven.

          The story really catches the heart of the readers especially to those people who experience the same as the story. It gives a great impact in a way that whenever we encounter like their situation we will be able to manage on how to handle those kind of problem. It is just because , we cannot deny the fact that whoever, whatever and whenever we are, temptation is always there that will test our commitment. 

The Legend and The Hero

  The two literary pieces that has been discussed by our instructor gives a great impact to  us in which we were able to know and identify the differences and similarities of the two literary pieces. 

  The similarities of the Life of Lam -ang and the Legend of Magat River was it possesses the character of being a brave, strong and determined individual. As well as, they were able to fought for their love to the person whom they admire. It also render their challenging adventure.  Of course, if there were similarities there were differences as well. The differences of the two is that in Life of Lam-ang there was a Divine interventions happened and also there  animals  were able to showed some magic tricks like what Lam-angs puppets did . While in Legend of Magat River there was no divine intervention happened and also there is this god whom they believed that it really exists. 

  In general, these two literary pieces give us an overview on how great writers the Filipino is and how sharp their mind is,  to come up with these great writings of them. And also how they filled the literary piece with deep emotions that captures everyone's heart. 

PHILIPPINE LITERATURE; THE LIGHT OF LIFE

            

       Philippine Literature plays a big part in a students’ life because as a student of a Teacher Education, we need to learn the different kind of persons that we should be dealing with , especially in the teaching world. In Philippine literature we learn many things about the person’s life, how he struggled, the novels and the message behind every poem that we read. We learn new things by reading those poems and those novels. 

        Another importance of the Philippine literature in our course is that we enhance our English vocabulary and our grammar. We also learn to write essays and enhance our imaginations through poems and novels. As a student and as a citizen of the Philippines, we should be aware of the writings, novels, and poems of different people who contributed in the Philippine literature.
